Programme Overview

The Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative apprenticeship prepares individuals to work safely, efficiently and effectively in fast-paced production environments. Apprentices learn how to operate processes, follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), perform quality checks, support continuous improvement and deliver high-quality products at speed, often across multiple product types.

This programme develops multi-skilled, safety-conscious operatives who can contribute to process efficiency, build quality into production and support lean manufacturing culture across their organisation.

End-Point Assessment (EPA)

Gateway Requirements:

  • English and Maths at required level
  • Completed portfolio
  • Employer confirmation of competence

EPA Methods:

  3. Multiple-Choice Test (40 questions)

Fail / Pass / Merit / Distinction

Entry Requirements

  • Suitable manufacturing role with access to required equipment
  • English & Maths up to Level 1 if not already held

Funding Information (Standardised ESTAR Format)

Funding Band

This apprenticeship is funded up to the maximum band set by the Department for Education: £6,000.

Funding Information

  • Levy-paying employers:The full cost can be funded through your apprenticeship levy.
  • Non-levy employers:You contribute 5% of the training cost, and the government funds 95%.
  • Small businesses (under 50 employees):If the apprentice is 16–21, the government funds 100% of the training cost with £0 employer contribution.
  • Additional supportmay be available for apprentices with learning difficulties or care-leaver status.
  • There are no hidden costs.
